Speech Therapy in Charlotte, NC
About our Charlotte, NC speech therapy services
Areas of expertise:
What is speech therapy?
Our Process
1. Schedule a speech / language evaluation
Speaking Sensory is equipped with both standardized and non-standardized assessments to best evaluate your child’s current level of skills. The evaluation is tailored to your concerns and will typically take ~45-60 minutes. It typically consists of a parent interview, case history information, play-based assessments, and more!
2. Receive a custom treatment plan
Your therapist then formulates a treatment plan based on your child’s needs. The therapist works with you to decide an appropriate frequency (how many sessions per week). You will receive updates on your child’s progress after each session and more detailed progress reports every six months.
3. Begin speech therapy sessions
Sessions range from 30, 45 and 60 minutes and vary based on the age and needs of your child. Evidence-based practice is at the core of our speech/language intervention services. We take a whole child approach, tailoring our services to meet the unique needs each individual. Our sessions also include parent education to ensure carryover of skills and maximize progress.
4. Experience flexible scheduling and support
At Speaking Sensory, we understand the importance of convenience and flexibility for our families. We are a mobile practice that offers home and/or community based services in the Charlotte and surrounding areas. Meaning – we come to you! Whether you prefer in-person sessions or virtual therapy, we have flexible appointment times available to suit your needs.

Frequently Asked Questions
Wondering if Speaking Sensory is a good fit for your family? Here are some common, frequently asked questions that might help point you in the right direction! Still unsure, contact us today.
How do I know if my child needs speech therapy?
We are team “trust your gut” vs. team “wait and see.” If your child is not using 50 words by the age of 2, is difficult to understand at the age of 4, a history of feeding/swallowing difficulties, these are all strong indicators that your child would benefit from an evaluation from a speech-language pathologist.
What’s the first step in this process?
We always offer a FREE consultation to get a better understanding of your child’s strengths and needs. From there, we will set up a time for an evaluation. After the evaluation, you will receive a detailed evaluation report with a treatment plan outlining goals/objectives based on your concerns. We then work together to come up with a frequency for therapy that fits your family’s needs (1x/week, 2x/week, monthly, etc.). Parent education is incorporated into each session.
What areas do you serve?
We service Charlotte and surrounding areas, including Belmont and Mount Holly. We are a mobile, speech therapy practice and conveniently provide services within the home, school and/or daycare settings.
What ages do you work with?
We service children ages Birth to 21, with specific focus on the birth to five population.
Do you accept insurance?
At this time, Speaking Sensory is out of network with insurance providers. We do, however, provide superbills upon request. We also utilize IvyPay, a HIPAA compliant payment processing service that allows you to use your FSA/HSA funds towards therapy!
What is the cost of services?
While therapy is an investment, the skills your child gains will support them for a lifetime.
